* - Owl Eyes: A useful bit of magic, this level allows you to see in the dark as if it were normal light. The effects last for one scene, during which time your eyes glow pale silver.
** - Gutter Light: This earliest level allows you to begin exploring your control over darkness. Indicate a light source small enough to fit into your hand and there is a subtle buzzing noise, after which the light source gutters and goes out. The light will return when you leave the scene.
*** - Still of the Night: Even if the guards cannot see, they can still hear. That’s why this level allows you to move in utter silence over nearly every surface. Shoes don’t squeak, leaves don’t crunch, but a bottle accidentally knocked over will still crash when it hits the ground. You may move about unheard and even whisper to others nearby, but any attacks or interactions with your environment cause the effect to break. This effect lasts for one scene.
**** - Nightshade: At this level, you are beginning to gain control over the darkness itself. Indicate one to three shadows. For the duration of a scene you may have total control over that shadow’s actions. This includes everything from taunting the original shadow’s owner to having them swirl madly around you, making your form difficult to see.
***** - Midnight’s Domain: Night-connected Fae are rumored to be extremely territorial. They discovered that in their own domains they were the masters not only of servants and guests, but of reality itself. This level allows you to re-write the laws of gravity, motion, and temperature as you see fit, but only within a structure or “barrow” that belongs to you. You can walk on walls, sleep on the ceiling, or increase the temperature to tropical levels at a thought. Each change takes one action to activate and it is then stable for the life of the building or until you choose to change it.
